Eligibility Requirements: New Applicants (Prospective Scholars) 

 

Am I a new applicant?

  • new applicant of the scholarship program is any graduating senior from McIntosh County Academy, and any graduate from McIntosh County Academy who has not received a scholarship from The Sapelo Foundation in the last 5 academic years. Please select the application link for examples.

What are the eligibility requirements for new applicants?

Do I have to be accepted to a college to apply for the scholarship?

  • No, you do not have to meet this requirement at the time of submitting your application. However, if you are selected as a scholar for the upcoming academic year, you must provide proof of enrollment by providing your college acceptance letter.

Do I have to be enrolled in a minimum of 9 credit hours as of the application?

  • No, you do not have to meet this requirement at the time of submitting your application. However, in order to keep your scholarship for the upcoming academic year, you must maintain enrollment of a minimum of 9 credit hours every semester (fall and spring).

Can I reapply for this scholarship next year?

  • Yes! All McIntosh County Academy graduates may reapply for this scholarship for up to 5 academic years from the date of high school graduation.

Do I have to apply for this scholarship every year?

  • In order to receive a scholarship from The Sapleo Foundation, for up to 5 academic years from the date of a student’s high school graduation, a scholar must reapply every year.

I don’t qualify for the scholarship program this year. Can I try to apply for the scholarship next year?

  • Yes! A graduate from McIntosh County Academy can apply for this scholarship up to 5 academic years from the date of high school graduation – pending the student meets all eligibility requirements.

 

Eligibility and Renewal Requirements: Returning Applicants (Current and Previous Scholars)

 

Am I a returning applicant?

  • returning applicant of the scholarship program is described as a graduate of McIntosh County Academy (Darien, GA) in the last 5 academic years, and is a current or previous scholarship recipient who is reapplying for the upcoming academic year. A returning applicant can apply for a graduate study scholarship as a part of the returning application.

What are the eligibility and renewal requirements for returning applicants?

Do I have to apply for this scholarship every year?

  • In order to receive a scholarship from The Sapleo Foundation, for up to 5 academic years from the date of a student’s high school graduation, a scholar must reapply every year. Please see our renewal eligibility requirements on our Eligibility Requirements page to see if you are eligible to reapply for this upcoming academic year.

I don’t qualify for the scholarship program this year. Can I try to reapply for the scholarship next year?

  • Current and Previous scholars can reapply for this scholarship for the following academic year, only if: (1) the scholar is reapplying within 5 academic years from the of date his/her high school graduation and (2) he/she meets all renewal eligibility requirements.

I received the scholarship and lost my scholarship in the fall semester. Can I reapply for the scholarship for the upcoming academic year?

  •  A current/previous scholar must meet all eligibility requirements every semester in order to reapply for the scholarship. However, this scholarship is available for all McIntosh County Academy graduates for up to 5 academic years from the date of high school graduation. We encourage a student to reapply for the scholarship for the NEXT (not upcoming) academic year – pending the student has met all renewal eligibility requirements for returning scholars.

I am a McIntosh County Academy graduate and I just completed my undergraduate degree. I am going to graduate school this upcoming academic year and I have graduated from McIntosh County Academy within the last 5 academic years. Can I apply for this scholarship?

  • Any returning scholar is eligible to apply for graduate study funding through the returning application – pending a student has met all renewal eligibility requirements and is applying within 5 academic years of his/her high school graduation.

I am a previous scholarship recipient and I am not currently enrolled in a college or university, but I will be enrolled in a college in the fall. Can I apply for this scholarship?

  • If a current or previous scholar is not currently enrolled in college, he/she is ineligible to apply for the scholarship this year. However, we encourage a student in this situation to reapply for the scholarship for the following academic year – pending he/she meets the renewal eligibility requirements and is applying within the last 5 academic years of his/her high school graduation.
